In
the fall of 1989, long before anyone but a few IBM geeks
could have imagined the Internet and online shopping, a
small Montreal sports store opened its doors across the
street from the legendary Montreal Forum. Sport BUFF was a
store dedicated to the true hockey fan - the fan who would
gladly wait in line for hours for a nosebleed ticket to
catch a glimpse of a young Patrick Roy as he revolutionized
the game with his unique butterfly goaltending technique.
These
fans knew that there was only one place to go for the best
range of authentic licensed NHL gear - the little shop
across the street. There was always a huge selection of
jerseys, caps, jackets, tee-shirts and more, while the
knowledgeable and friendly staff would always be available
to talk about their passion - hockey.
Over the
years, Sport BUFF developed a great reputation for quality
products, great value and exceptional service. This was
evident when rival Bruins and Leafs fans visiting Montreal
for a game, would make a point of dropping by the store to
buy up whatever was available in their team's colors. They
would later call from Boston, Toronto, New York… and soon
England, France, Germany, Australia, because they would
remember from their visit that Sport BUFF would likely have
the NHL item that they were looking for.
