Goongarrie
National Park
Goongarrie National Park, nearly 50,000ha in extent includes
large areas of Mulga. The Park, north of Kalgoorlie, can be
reached by traveling north to Menzies and turning east on a
gravel road of reasonable standard. Spring is the best time
to visit.
Eucla
National Park
Tucked away in the south-east corner of Western Australia,
against the head of the Great Australian Bight is the
3,340ha Eucla National Park. The Park's most significant
features are the vast Delisser Sandhills and Wilson Bluff, a
high limestone cliff which provides inspiring view of the
awesome coastal cliffs beginning at Eucla and continuing
unbroken for hundreds of kilometers to the east.
The Park's flora is
melee scrub and heath land, typical of the local coastline.
Several interesting plants occur in the Park. Visitors may
also see whales, seals and albatrosses from the Park's ocean
front. The Park has no facilities but is only 10 minutes
drive from the Eucla town site.
John Forrest National Park
This 1580ha park on the Darling Range escarpment consists of
Jarrah forests with marri, wandoo and blackboys.
Attractions include wild fowers in the spring and waterfalls.
40 minutes drive from Perth
Ningaloo
Marine Park
Offshore, the Ningaloo Reef stretches from north to south
for 260km and protects a lagoon rich in marine life.
Fantastic coral formations, rare starfish, Dugongs, Whale
Sharks, playful Dolphins and giant Hump- Backed Whales are
some of the fascinating marine life that inhabit the waters.
In season, sheltered sand beaches serve as nesting rookeries
for turtles. Several historic ship wrecks can also be found
in the Park.
Cape Range National Park
Situated mostly On the west side of North West Cape, the
Cape Range National Park is a spectacular place of rugged
limestone ranges, deep canyons and 50 km of pristine
beaches.
Millstream-Chichester National Park
In contrast to the Kariljini National Park, scenes in this
Park vary from magnificent views over the coastal plain to
the permanent river pools of Millstream. Excellent swimming
conditions and informal camping areas are available.
Batavia Coast
The Shark Bay
Heritage Area is the home one of the worlds last surviving
herds of dugongs, who along with whales, turtles, manta
rays, and large sharks are regularly sighted.
Monkey Mia is one of
Western Australia's most famous and popular tourist
attractions, where wild dolphins can be hand fed on the
shoreline. The area is one of the best for fishermen and
also home to the famous Western Australian crayfish.
